Who We Are

YALTA was initiated in 2020 through a partnership between the Netherlands Food Partnership and the IKEA Foundation. YALTA has evolved into a Community-Based Organization (CBO) in 2023 through a collaboration between visionary leaders in food systems, dedicated to fostering sustainable agriculture and economic development. With a market-driven approach, we facilitate connections among stakeholders, policymakers, and experts to drive collective advancement in agroecology and business, shaping the future of food systems.

What We do

At YALTA Initiative, we optimise interactions between people, plants, and animals through agroecology. Prioritising youth and women's involvement, we have supported over 200 agripreneurs in the past 3 years, aiming for a transition to a more sustainable food system. Our approach combines climate-smart practices with a business perspective, maximising resource efficiency through sustainable practices tailored to specific contexts. We focus on empowering youth to drive innovation and sustainability in agriculture, ensuring a brighter future for generations to come.

How We Work

The YALTA empowers agripreneurs to apply agroecological principles, fostering networks and sustainability. By translating knowledge into practice, we nurture viable agribusiness models within a conducive ecosystem, enabling youth to lead the transformation towards sustainable food systems and economic development. Our inclusive approach ensures collective learning and innovation, driving impactful change across the region. Through partnerships and collaboration, we cultivate a culture of creativity and integrity, fostering sustainable solutions for the challenges of today and tomorrow.
